No, he didn't: Woods credits self with Memorial win

ATLANTA – It’s official: Tiger Woods has won so many tournaments, so often, that he can’t even remember ’em all.

On Wednesday, Woods was asked to assess his season to date, which includes five victories on the PGA Tour.

“I won some big events this year,” he said during a news conference in advance of the Tour Championship. “Two World Golf Championships, a Players, and Jack and Arnold's tournaments.”

Well, he nailed four of the five.



Woods did indeed win the WGC-Cadillac Championship, WGC-Bridgestone Invitational, Players Championship and Arnold Palmer Invitational.

But unless Jack Nicklaus has started hosting his event at Torrey Pines without telling anyone, Woods’ memory is running at just 80 percent.

While he failed to mention his victory at the Farmers Insurance Open, Woods did take credit for winning The Memorial Tournament – hosted by Nicklaus, of course – where he actually finished in a share of 65th place.

Of course, his error can be chalked up to simple confusion based on his winning percentage at Muirfield Village. That’s because Woods owns five career Memorial titles, including last year’s edition of the event.
